27 November was the date: the freshly printed Red Wine Guide for 2019 hit the newsstands! We are pleased to no end that our Blaufränkisch Szapary 2015 received 95 points in the blind tasting – and with this, the highest score for any Blaufränkisch from the Eisenberg. Here are all the Falstaff jury’s tasting notes on our wines:
EISENBERG DAC BLAUFRÄNKISCH 2017 – 90 points
12.5%, screwcap closure, dark ruby garnet, violet highlights, delicate lightening at the rim. Subtle floral nuances supporting fresh cherry fruit, fine herbal spice, a bit of sage, sour cherry notes. Juicy & authoritative, balanced tannins, salty, some blackberry on the finish, already drinking quite nicely.
EISENBERG DAC RESERVE BLAUFRÄNKISCH VOM RIEGL 2013 – 92 points
13%, natural cork, dark ruby garnet, violet highlights, delicate lightening at the rim. Inviting bouquet of ripe black cherries, a hint of dried figs, delicate earthy nuances, dark minerality, a hint of cedar. Juicy, black berry fruit, firm tannins, mineral-laden & refreshing, good potential.
ROTE KÜVEE 2015 BF/CS/ME/SY/ZW – 90 points
13%, screwcap closure, robust ruby garnet, violet highlights, delicate lightening at the rim. Dark berry fruit with subtle herbal spice, a touch of liquorice, tobacco/balsamic nuances. Juicy, red cherries, red berry confit, fine tannins, fresh & salty, a versatile accompanist to fine dining.
BLAUFRÄNKISCH RIED SAYBRITZ 2015 – 94 points
13.5%, natural cork, dark ruby garnet, violet highlights, delicate lightening at the rim. Delicately floral blackberry confit, candied zest of mandarin orange, nuances of essential oils, delicately sauvage & inviting. Juicy, elegant, light on its feet with delicate red cherry fruit, fine tannins, lively, spicy style, persistent on the palate, shows definite cellaring potential.
BLAUFRÄNKISCH RIED SZAPARY 2015 – 95 points
13.5%, natural cork, deep ruby-garnet, violet highlights, delicate lightening at the rim. Dark wild strawberry confit with subtle herbal spice, delicate liquorice & floral nuances, tobacco in the aftertaste. Juicy, elegant texture, red cherries, fine tannins, structural finesse, persistent on the palate, pleasant sweet extract in the finish, good potential for development.
